Hot tip: it’s extremely sweaty work visiting Dubai in summer with two kids you need to carry when they get tired. And when it’s 40+ degrees, they get tired pretty quickly.
Here’s what you need to know – go in their winter. Take lots of money. That will barely cover your food and entrance fees. Take lots more money if you want to actually buy anything. And you will definitely want to buy something because the malls are FULL of things. Wonderful things. Sadly I had no money and once again had to berate myself for not marrying rich. I’m sure the CG was thinking the same thing.
Yep, that's an aquarium in Dubai Mall.
And a casual waterfall. As you do.
New, shiny Dubai reminded me of Singapore, while old Dubai reminded me of Malaysia. It was an easy stopover, with good food, friendly service, and some amazing architecture.
We found the malls amazing with their aquariums, ski slopes, waterfalls, restaurants and high end shops galore.
By day we cruised on traditional boats, explored the souks and cooled off in the pool.
By night we soaked up the still steaming hot city of lights and dancing waterfalls.
One day we'll be back, when the kids are old enough to enjoy the massive water parks and desert 4WDs.
Although we probably still won't have enough money.
